ORC Lesson Plans

A Bear of a Poem: Composing and Performing Found Poetryhttp://www.readwritethink.org/classroom-resources/lesson-plans/bear-poem-composing-performing-835.html
Hello Fellow Teachers,Reading & Language Arts Community
I have found a very useful resource that can be used to enhance children's learning experiences. Reading and language development is very important to me; as I am sure it is for all of you. This site offers a host of lesson plans that will aid in this subject area, as well as in other. With any lesson plan on this site, all the standards that apply will be listed. Below are the standards that will be covered under the lesson plan that I have chose to implement with my Head Start classroom.
A Bear of a Poem is a lesson plan that is broken up into four fifty minute sessions. These session start with a book it could be any book. I am choosing to use The Berenstain Bears Go To School. Session 1: I will read this book during group time, while engaging the children in dialogue about the story. Once the story has ended the children will be encouraged to call out words or phrases that they liked or remembered from the story. The children's words will be written on our dry erase board titled 'Found Poem'. Session 2: We will revisit the book this time in smaller groups. Each child will get a chance to select a favorite page and in their journals will create their own poem based on the picture of the page and the content of the story. Session 3: The children will be encourage to share their thoughts and ideas using their journals with the class. As a group we will begin collaborating to create our class poem. We will begin practicing our shared poem for our performance. Session 4: The children will perform their poem during family night.

Hello Fellow Bloggers,
I just got finished playing with a great photo editor called; Pic monkey. On this website you can upload a photo of yourself or even a photo of your classroom. Once you have uploaded your photograph you will have fun picking and choosing various options that allow you  to change your uploaded image to look any way you like. You can add borders or picture frames to your creation. It was not easy for me to upload my photograph from my email but once I figure it out I enjoyed playing around with this picture I took of myself on my way to church. I have provided the link and I encourage you all  to explore it. Have Fun!

The Online Disinhibition Effect

Hello Fellow Bloggers,
I would like to share with you a project that my group created. It is called The Online Disinhibition Effect, the different personas people have when using the internet. People tend to be more open in cyberspace than in face to face conversations. My group was assigned the Invisibility persona. At first we struggled to figure out how to share the google document, then we were able to write on the group document together using different computers. This turned out to be a fun and interactive assignment.

My Pipl Search

Hello fellow blogger, Recently i was instructed by my college professor to do a 'Pipl Search' on myself. I could not believe all the information that is available on the internet about me. I was shockingly surprise to find that not only was every address that I have every lived at was posted for the world to see, but also old telephone numbers, everyone that i am related to, there was even a list of all the jobs that i have had, with complete job descriptions. Even though i am not on any type of social networks, everything that any stranger would want to know about me is floating around in cyberspace. This completely compromises my safety and security. There are people from my past, that i do not want to know how to contact me. I do not want to think that any stalker or sociopath could with the click of a few keys, find out everything they need to know about me in a matter of seconds. It makes me nervous as an educator of young children to have a classroom blog. For fear that I could possible put the families I serve in danger!

Welcome All to my new Educational Blog. My name is Doshia Gore. I am an undergrad student at Columbus State Community College, majoring in Early Childhood Development and Education. I am so excited to be so close to acquiring my associate degree(next semester). I am even more excited to start my very first blog! I look forward to sharing with you everything I know and am interested in as it pertains to educating young children and I encourage you to feel free to do the same.
As a future teacher, I plan to get young children interested in STEM, by making science, technology, engineering and math experiences fun and meaningful to young children. Personally I feel that early intervention is key to raising a generation that will be interested in STEM subject areas. With that being said, I am ready to share my ideas and hear your.

Best Regards,
Doshia Gore
